The Heart Series: A Territory to Discover
An evolving exploration of the heart as a territory shaped by our roots, memories, identity, wounds, and capacity to heal, connect, and belong.
-
Where memory, ancestry, and the experiences that shaped us continue to live.
-
Where the heart finds the courage to speak, express, and reveal its truth.
-
Where heritage, memory, and personal experience come together to reveal who we are.
-
Where wounds become wisdom, and the heart learns to grow again.
-
Where the heart finds connection, community, and a place to belong.

THE JOURNEY
My Search
For more than two decades, my work has been a search.
A search for belonging, identity, memory, connection, and the meaning of the experiences we carry within us.
Eventually, I realized that all of these paths were leading me to the same place:
the heart.
The Heart Series is my exploration of that territory.

Upcoming Experiences
What if the heart were not only something we carry, but a place we can enter?
The Heart Series is an immersive exhibition by artist Edwin Gil, exploring the heart as a territory of memory, identity, healing, roots, love, and human connection.
Through original artwork, installations, storytelling, and interactive experiences, the exhibition invites visitors to move beyond simply viewing art and become part of the journey—reflecting on the stories and emotions they carry within their own hearts.

The experience begins in the gallery. The story continues with you.
One Heart at a Time.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, I invite you to experience a special edition of The Heart Series a journey through the colors, stories, cultures, and extraordinary artistic legacy of Latin America.
I created 15 original anatomical hearts, each inspired by the visual language and legacy of an artist connected to Latin America from Frida Kahlo and Fernando Botero to Wifredo Lam, Olga de Amaral, Guayasamín, Tarsila do Amaral, Ana Mendieta, and more.
These 15 artists cannot represent the entirety of Latin American art. Instead, they are 15 doors into a much larger territory one shaped by Indigenous, African, European, Caribbean, immigrant, ancestral, and contemporary voices.
And at the center of every piece remains the heart.
Because beyond our different countries, histories, languages, and generations, our heritage lives in the heart.

The Heart of Our Heritage, by artist Edwin Gil, will be part of the International Festival at CPCC’s Cato Campus on September 22, from 11 AM–2 PM, in partnership with the Center for Global Engagement.
Created as part of The Heart Series, The Heart of Our Heritage explores identity, culture, memory, and belonging through the heart. This special collection features 15 original works inspired by influential artists from Latin America, transforming the anatomical heart into a visual conversation about the people, places, and traditions that shape who we are.
At the International Festival, the project becomes part of a larger celebration of cultures from around the world—an invitation to recognize that while our heritage may be different, every heart carries a story.
Come celebrate culture, art, and connection—one heart at a time.
