by Rafael Prieto Zartha

Read more

Dear Gil Gallery patron, It is with bittersweet emotion that The gallery has been a source of inspiration to me and the community over the past three years as it hosted a multitude of exhibits, openings, cultural events, parties and meetings. I’d like to give a special thank you to Coffey & Thompson Gallery’s Paul Thompson for his unyielding support of my artistic career throughout the past 13 years. I’d also like to recognize Charlotte’s art community and organizations who lift up the arts in so many ways across the Queen City.

I have chosen to focus more on my commissioned work, professional development & diversity workshops, speaking engagements and social art initiatives as I move forward in my career. My community involvement will remain constant as will my desire to create pieces of art for loyal customers, businesses, nonprofit groups and international organizations. The closing of Gil Gallery will allow me the wonderful opportunity to pursue my artistic endeavors unimpeded so I can use art as a tool to connect communities here at home and abroad.

Please stay tuned in January 2013 as I launch my new ART-DIVERSITY-CULTURE workshop offerings via In addition, people interested in viewing my work or commissioning a special piece can contact me at 704-968-8690. I am happy to provide you a private showing of my work or visit your home or place of business. As always, my portfolio can be found online and is available for purchase there too.

Again, thank you for believing in me and my art. Here’s to a happy and prosperous 2013!

Most sincerely,

Edwin Gil
