CMS superintendent endorses Faces of Diversity

Director of Arts, Health & Physical Education, and PreK-12 Curriculum Support Programs Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools "The artwork is a visual mosaic making a very powerful statement from all students that they are committed to be the change makers in their schools and communities. One student standing, telling the world the way we can make it better," says Kaclik.

Another great partnership will help teach our students about the dangers of bullying. Artist Edwin Gil has devised a project called 10 Faces of Diversity that will be displayed at various schools in our district, as well as elsewhere. Using recycled glass and paint, Gil is creating 10 large artworks that will each show the face of one student.

The students are chosen based on their life stories, which are used to create a narrative with the artwork. The generous donations already received will cover three of the 10 and more funding is being sought for this innovative partnership to help our students.
